Review the Ad, Print it Out
If you’re looking for a used car on the Internet, chances are you’ve reviewed dozens of ads by the time you make an appointment to actually see a car. It’s very normal for all the ads to jumble together in your brain. Print out the ad for every car you’re going to see, paying particular attention to any type of promises the seller makes, such as “runs good,” “rebuilt engine,” or any other repairs. Although there is no Lemon Law that protects you when it comes to dealing with private parties, having a copy of the ad on hand can prove useful if you find the seller was untruthful. When you’re looking for a car on the Internet, give some thought to using a qualified dealer like Freeway Chevrolet. Dealers must adhere to specific consumer laws that are designed to protect you.
Meet in a Public Place
Odds are you won’t have any trouble going to a person’s house to look at a car, but why tempt fate? Meeting in a public place, such as a library, grocery store or mall parking lot provides another level of safety against scammers who might be looking to do you harm. In addition, always try and have a friend or family member accompany you to meet a stranger who is selling a car. As an added measure of security, either call or text someone with the information on who, where and when you’re meeting. Message that person again when the meeting is over and you are safe.
Beware of Red Flags
There are a number of things that should raise a red flag when you attempt to buy a car from an individual off the Internet. The first problem area is a lack of a title or paperwork that doesn’t seem authentic. Carefully check the VIN number on the title against the vehicle and make sure there are no liens listed on the title. If a car has a fresh paint job, it could be a sign of underlying damage that was hastily repaired. Also beware if a seller isn’t keen on offering a bill of sale and a receipt. Any scrupulous seller will have no problem providing the proper paperwork to complete a car sale.
Safest Bet is to Visit a Dealership
Buying a car off the Internet doesn’t mean you have to meet a perfect stranger in a setting that may or may not be hazardous to your health. Most dealerships like Freeway Chevrolet now have an extensive Internet presence where you can go and look over the available used and new inventory. Buying a car through a dealership not only guarantees a safe environment, but it also gives you a level of comfort that the vehicle your purchasing has been inspected and all the paperwork is on the up and up.
With the newest installment of the Fast & Furious series recently released, it feels like everywhere you turn, it’s Fast and Furious fever! For those of you who follow and enjoy the films, it’s easy to understand the hype. As we all know, the series is jammed and packed full of amazingly impressive rides. Here at Freeway Chevrolet, our focus tends to migrate towards the Chevy makes and models- rightfully so. Let’s take a look at the top three Chevy cars that made a glorious appearance in the Fast and Furious movies.
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Ah. The Chevelle SS. Some would agree that the Fast & Furious movies just wouldn’t be complete without this automotive gem playing a part. The Chevelle is driven by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) who is first seen driving it in a post credits scene incorporating the memorable quote, “I live my life a quarter mile at a time… Nothing else matters. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free.” The impressive Chevy Chevelle meets a glorious end when Dom utilizes it as an explosive distraction against the film’s antagonist in order to escape an ambush. Rest peacefully oh dearest Chevelle.
Corvette Grand Sport
This beauty can be seen in the fifth installment of the series. After commencing in a visually stimulating road chase, the gorgeous Grand Sport is not only driven off a speeding train, but also careens off a cliff- only to meet its fate in a watery grave. Luckily, the car that met the unfortunate doom was actually a replica of the Corvette Grand Sport. Replica or not, the car is beautiful and awesome to look at!
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro
Of course, we cannot forget the beautiful blue of the 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro. This particular piece of vehicle eye candy was won by Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) in “2 Fast 2 Furious.” After winning the pink slip to this gorgeous ride, it is used in the second half of the movie to evade the police. It ends up flying through the air and makes an impressive, and memorable, landing onto a yacht!
Who would have thought that when The Fast and The Furious came out so many years ago that it would have made as much of an impact as it did? But come on, here at Freeway Chevrolet, we know why everyone loves these movies so much- the beautiful, rubber-burning, heart-thumping Chevrolet rides of course!
