New Volt Delivers 40 Percent More Range

Range, Range, Range is What Customers Want

The biggest hang up to sales of electric vehicles is a perceived inconvenience caused by lack of range. Although most people don’t drive more than 30 miles to and from work every day, electric vehicles that get much more than that per charge are shunned. To help solve the problem, engineers have added nearly 40 percent more range to the 2016 Chevy Volt. Now with the ability to go 53 miles on a single charge, more and more Volt owners will find those infrequent trips to the gas pumps even less of an occurrence. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt inventory will be ready for inspection soon at Freeway Chevrolet.

When Electric Runs Out, Gas Engine Takes Over

Because the Volt is a hybrid and not a pure electric vehicle, owners have the peace of mind of a gasoline engine taking over whenever the charge has run out. The added boost brings the Volt’s total range to 420 miles on a full charge and topped off tank of fuel, which is enough to go from Phoenix to Los Angeles without a single stop (bathrooms not included). “We listened to our customers,” said Andrew Farah, Volt chief engineer. “They were very clear with they told us they wanted more range and a fun driving experience behind the wheel. We are confident that the 2016 Volt delivers both.”

New Range-extender Gas Engine Offers 42 MPG

When running solely on the gas engine, the Volt gets a very respectable 42 miles per gallon. Owners of previous versions of the Volt reported getting much more than that, but your mileage will vary. When fully charged, the electric engine is rated at the gasoline equivalent of 106 mpg. Since most Volt owners run the vehicle solely on electric between 80 and 90 percent of the time, that means an owner of a new Volt can expect to go more than 1,000 miles between gasoline fill-ups.

New Features Provide State-of-Art Safety

Chevrolet has incorporated some new safety features into the 2016 Volt to not only help you avoid collisions, but lessen the chance of injury should a crash occur. Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Forward Safety Awareness use a combination of sensors and cameras to alert you to possible dangers. Ten air bags are strategically located to protect you in case of a crash, and a strong frame helps the vehicle keep its structural integrity no matter where a collision occurs. Inspect the safety features, stunning exterior and interior and all the features that make the new Volt a work of technological art with a visit to Freeway Chevrolet.
