‘Car and Driver’ Loves New Chevy

The 2016 Chevy Cruze is a “seriously smooth car,” according to no less an authority than the editors at “Car and Driver” magazine. The editors love the Cruze’s “slippery shape” and the way joints fit together evenly. By lengthening the overall car by almost three inches, Chevy added some comfort to the ride while putting it just on the edge of still being a compact car. An added result is a more spacious interior, where adults can take a long trip without being cramped. To see how comfortable the new Cruze can be, take a test drive at Freeway Chevrolet.

Suspension Tuning Delivers Stability and Comfort

Chevy engineers have paid particular attention to the suspension of the 2016 Chevy Cruze, fine tuning the torsion-beam rear axle and front struts to deliver a smooth and responsive ride. The Cruze absorbs potholes and bumps like a much larger car, saving both your back and the car’s components from early injury. When making a quick emergency lane switch, the rear end of the car remains under control, keeping you out of trouble when driving conditions get dicey. By implementing on-center zone steering, it’s easy to keep the Cruze on track during those long freeway runs with just a thumb controlling the wheel.

New Turbo Provides More Power

By replacing the previous engine choices with a 1.4L turbo four cylinder engine, Chevy has decreased weight and increased power in the new Cruze. The new engine delivers 153 horsepower, which is more than enough to zip the light car through traffic or around curves. The latest edition of the Cruze is 262 pounds lighter than last year’s model, helping propel the vehicle to a respectable time of 7.6 seconds in the 0 to 60 mph run.

Plush Interior Delivers Necessary Support

While many cars of its size use smaller seats to provide the illusion of more interior room, the Cruze has large, plush bolsters that keep you swaddled in the lap of luxury. An optional driver’s power seat adds the necessary adjustments to tilt and lumbar necessary for those long trips. More chrome and a rubberized coating provides a modern look on the dash and trim. Add heated front seats, a sunroof and Bose audio system and you’ll truly be driving in the throes of comfort. Plenty of storage compartments, six cupholders and a special place to charge the driver’s phone all add to the amenities. See how smooth the new Cruze is by heading over to Freeway Chevrolet.

Chevrolet Accessories offers a trailering camera system, produced by Echomaster, for 2014-2016 model year Silverados. The system is fully integrated with the Silverado infotainment system, providing images from up to four cameras on the center display.

Retrofit Your 2014-2016 Silverado

Chevrolet has teamed up with Echomaster to create a three-camera towing backup system designed to make the problems of parking a trailer a thing of the past. When combined with a factory-installed fifth-wheel package, backing up a large trailer is as simple as playing a video game. “These are great examples of our commitment to provide truck customers with the most confident towing experience in the industry,” according to Chevy truck executive Jeff Luke. “The fifth-wheel prep package has been edesigned by our structural engineers to make the most of Silverado’s fully-boxed, high strength steel frame. The trailering camera system was designed in partnership with our Chevrolet MyLink team to seamlessly integrate views from trailering cameras into the existing radio display.” See how the new backup system works on the Chevrolet Silverado with a visit to Freeway Chevrolet.

Cameras Installed in Mirrors, on Trailer

The new Chevrolet Silverado backup system utilizes two cameras installed in the side mirrors for optimum viewing of both sides of the trailer. A third camera is mounted on the rear top edge of the trailer, providing a bird’s eye view of the parking spot. Infrared lighting delivers a clear picture during day or night. Once you put your truck in reverse, the trailering system is activated. Pressing the Home button on your radio produces a menu screen from which you can choose your selected view. An optional fourth camera can be installed within the trailer so you can monitor your cargo, horses or other content. This system can be purchased through the parts department at Freeway Chevrolet.

Fifth-wheel Package Provides Secure Connection

The Chevrolet Silverado also has an optional factory-installed fifth wheel package available that integrates a hitch platform with the steel frame for maximum strength. A hitch platform and tray are mounted to the frame and hidden under the truck bed. Once the hitch is removed, the frame is completely out of sight so you can use the bed for cargo. The hitch package and camera system are just part of a comprehensive suite of towing features offered by Chevrolet. Other features include Standard StabiliTrak with sway control, integrated cruise control with auto grade braking and digital steering assist. The Chevrolet Silverado HD also features the most payload capacity and highest towing rating in the industry. Special Edition Built for California Buyers

Loading up a pickup truck with surfboards and heading to the beach is as much a west coast tradition as fish tacos and bonfires on the sand. By creating the Chevrolet Colorado Shoreline Edition, buyers can now go surfing in the comfort of Motor Trend’s “Truck of the Year.” “The new Colorado ignited the midsize pickup market, accounting for 74 percent of the growth of the segment in 2015,” according to Chevy truck marketing director Sandor Piszar. “This year we are continuing that momentum with the Shoreline edition designed specifically for customers in the segment’s biggest market.” More midsize trucks are sold in the Los Angeles area than any other market. Stop by Freeway Chevrolet and take a look at the Colorado special edition trucks to see which one best suits your taste.

Shoreline Offers Most Popular Options

Along with spray-in bedliner, a year of Sirius XM radio and all-weather floor liners, the new Shoreline Colorado comes with blacked out trim and subtle accents. Choose only from Red Hot, Laser Blue, Summit White or Silver Ice Metallic exterior colors. The front grill comes in the body color, accented with black door handles, beltline and mirrors. “The Shoreline is a great example of our strategy to offer unique trucks designed for very specific customers,” Piszar said. “These trucks have clearly resonated with customers, as last year our special edition trucks sold in one-third the time, and to younger, more affluent buyers than the industry average.”

Other Special Editions Include Midnight, Trail Boss

If the beach really isn’t your thing, perhaps a Colorado that gives off a stealth vibe is more your cup of tea. The Midnight Colorado comes in a blacked out look that is as beautiful as it is mysterious. Black on black, including the iconic Bowtie logo, gives this truck a sinister appearance. The Chevy Colorado Trail Boss is built for those who like their roads with a little less asphalt and a little more mud. Built on the Z71 four by four chassis, the Trail Boss comes with a sport bar to illuminate the road with LED lighting. Rocker steps help protect the sides and all-weather floor mats make clean-up a snap.

Colorado Offers Diesel Option

For a combination of fuel efficiency and torque that is unmatched in its class, the Chevrolet Colorado with the diesel engine option provides supreme towing power while allowing you to spend less time at the pumps. Chevrolet introduces the 2017 Sonic– a more expressive, sporty take on the brand’s fun-to-drive small car. The 2017 Sonic delivers a new design, more technology and more active safety coming Fall 2016.

New Model Delivers Sporty Fun

The 2017 Chevy Sonic is a sporty little car that’s great on gas and fun to drive. Chevy is banking on that combination hitting a home run with Millennials, who will also appreciate the low retail price and a ton of available features. “The new styling and features of the 2017 Sonic reinforce its position as a fun, efficient small car with leading technology – all at an affordable price,” according to Chevy director of marketing Steve Majoros. “This is an important segment for Chevrolet, as we really have an opportunity to introduce ourselves to new buyers and show them what we’re all about.” You can see the 2017 Sonic later this fall at Freeway Chevrolet.

Sonic Has History of Luring Younger Buyers

Both the Chevy Sonic and Trax have a history of appealing to younger buyers who have never owned a Chevrolet before. More than 20 percent of buyers are under age 35, with almost 30 percent of those trading in cars made by other manufacturers. The Sonic is also the most popular Chevy with first-time car buyers. New multi-media features like compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should prove even more attractive to younger car owners. The 2017 Sonic comes with a standard 7-inch touchscreen to control music and hands-free communication, helping drivers to stay focused on the road.

Sporty Design Provides Athletic Look

Designers gave the 2017 Chevy Sonic a new hood, remodeled front fascia and upgraded LED lighting elements to create a sportier, athletic look. It is consistent with a philosophy to make the Sonic appeal to buyers around the world, similar to the design in the Bolt Electric Vehicle, Cruze and Trax. “With its trademark wheels-at-the-corners stance, the dramatic changes to Sonic’s design give it an even sportier stance and attitude,” said Chevy design manager Justin Thompson. The new Sonic also gives the option to choose from a number of different wheel designs as large as 17 inches. Some stunning new color options include Brimstone, Arctic Blue Metallic, Orange Burst Metallic and Cajun Red Tintcoat.

New Interior Delivers Comfort and Convenience

With an available power driver’s seat, high degree of refinement using quality materials and available Wi-Fi hotspot, the new Sonic has features normally found on more expensive automobiles. Other new features include heated cloth seats, a heated steering wheel and keyless lock/unlock and start. Buy the RS trim package and you get floor mats with an RS logo, red cloth seating and an RS-badged steering wheel. The Chevrolet Sonic is expected to deliver at least 40 mpg at a starting price near $15,000. Stay in touch with Freeway Chevrolet to see when the new Sonic will appear on the showroom floor later this year.
