JD Power Honors Prove Quality and Dependability

If you’re looking for a car, truck or SUV that’s going to be there for the long haul, the awards say smart shoppers will consider a Chevy. Chevrolet was the most honored car company by the research institute J.D. Power last year, earning top Initial Quality and Dependability awards for the Spark, Camaro, Tahoe, Equinox, Silverado and Malibu. The awards are a result of an independent poll of customers after the first 90 days of ownership, proving that Chevrolet customers are happy with their purchase long after the new car smell starts to fade away. See why Americans love their Chevy by taking a look at the new car inventory at Freeway Chevrolet.

Chevy Has Most Awards of Any Company

Along with the prestigious honors from JD Power, Chevy has also piled up a mountain of awards from various auto industry sources. From the tiny Spark to the family-friendly Suburban, virtually every model has won multiple honors. Motor Trend magazine’s car and truck of the year for 2016 were the Chevy Camaro and Colorado. The Colorado also scored honors from U.S. News and World Report as the best compact truck for the money, and from Kelley Blue Book as the winner in the 5-year “Cost to Own” category, as well as having the best resale value. Chevy’s Tahoe, a leader in the full-size SUV market, earned honors from Kelley Blue Book as a Best Buy, as well as being one of the “Best 15 Family Cars.”

Looking For Fuel Efficient SUV?

If you’re looking for a fuel efficient SUV that does the job whether you’re in the office carpool or official driver for your kid’s softball team, you need to explore the Chevy Equinox. This capable people carrier has earned JD Power’s top honor for two years in a row, as well as being named the “Most Dependable Compact SUV.” It’s also a top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. And don’t forget it does all this while still delivering an efficient 32 mpg on the highway. If you need something just a bit bigger, the Traverse is a midsize SUV that was honored by U.S. News and World Report as well as industry watchdog Edmunds.

Corvette and Camaro Deliver Sporty Fun

We get it. You’re not quite ready for the SUV and you’d like a little more performance than that offered by an economic compact. Head to Freeway Chevrolet and compare the different models of the Camaro and Corvette. The Camaro, one of the most popular pony cars in America, was named to Car and Driver’s “10Best” list for 2016 and remains at the top of the JD Power rankings. The Corvette, that sports car that’s an iconic part of Americana, was named a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy, as well as having the best resale value in 2015. Edmunds also picked the Corvette as its Top-Rated Coupe.

Compact SUV Only One to Offer Diesel

With a choice of three engines, including a 1.6L turbo-diesel, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox offers consumers more variety than any other compact SUV. Whether you choose the 1.5L turbo, 2.0L turbo or the diesel, the Equinox has the vehicle to fit your transportation needs. “With three choices, customers can select an engine that offers more of the attributes that are important to them: efficiency, performance and capability,” according to Dan Nicholson, VP of Global Propulsion Systems. “The advantage for each is the power of a larger engine and the fuel economy of a smaller engine.” The multi-engine turbocharged lineup is a first for Chevy in North America. See all the options and make your choice with a visit to Freeway Chevrolet.

Choose from Ultra-efficient, Power or Torque

The three engines offer three unique choices for SUV buyers. Pick the smaller engine and you get ample horsepower, but outstanding 31 mpg efficiency on the highway. Opt for the larger gas engine and horsepower climbs to 252 with a wide range of top torque for towing and quick acceleration. That engine gives the Equinox a 3,500 pound trailering capacity, more than enough for small recreational needs. The 2.0L engine only costs you about 3 mpg on the highway. Diesels are known for their low-end torque, and the Equinox doesn’t disappoint. With 236 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm, the diesel engine continues to maintain power through a broad range thanks to a variable-geometry turbo charger. This diesel is also one of the most refined in the industry, with stop/start technology.

Turbocharging all the Rage at Chevrolet

The Equinox is not the only Chevy taking advantage of the extra compression generated by a turbocharger. Camaro, Malibu, Cruze, Sonic and Trax all have gas turbo options. The Colorado and Silverado pickup have a turbo-diesel engine available. Stepping on the gas to kick in the turbos increases the power without affecting the efficiency of the engine under light loads. The 2.0L gas turbo in the Equinox is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission that has smaller delineations between gears to increase efficiency and provide a smooth ride. Thanks to some clever linear design, the 9-speed transmission is roughly the same weight as the old 6-speed. You can test drive the 2018 Chevy Equinox and all three engine choices next spring when it arrives at the Freeway Chevrolet showroom.

New for 2017, the Tahoe and Suburban LT models are offered with a Midnight Edition package. The LT Midnight includes all of the features found on both the LT trim levels of Suburban and Tahoe and adds 20” black wheels, all-season tires, roof rack cross rails, black assist steps and black Chevrolet “bow tie” logos.

LT, Z71 Get Blackout Treatment

If traveling in stealth mode in the dead of the night is your favorite way to travel, Chevrolet has some very good news. Both of their full-size SUVs, the Tahoe and Suburban, are offering a Midnight Edition package for the LT and Z71 trim levels. Both packages feature an exclusive black paint job, with trim and special accessories that will make your SUV stand out from the crowd during the day and all but disappear when night falls. “Our SUV customers have shown a considerable appetite for specialty vehicles,” according to Chevy marketing manager Mike Weidman. “The Midnight Editions allow us to further deliver on the premium expectation that our customers already have for these class-leading full-size SUVs.” Check in with the pros at Freeway Chevrolet to see when the Midnight Editions will be available for inspection.

Z71 Prepares You for Off-Roading

The Z71 Midnight Edition package comes with all the goodies of the regular Z71 trim level plus a few more. Chevy’s Z71 has long been associated with the ultimate in off-roading by providing specialty items like skid plates, tubular side steps, tow hooks, fog lamps and special off-road tires. You also get a four-wheel drive system that provides extra control when going down a steep grade, a large capacity air cleaner and suspension that’s tuned to absorb the big bumps. Both the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban with the Midnight Edition package add large black Z71 wheels, cross rails for a roof rack, a grille insert that’s black, and, of course, the black Chevy bowtie logo on the front. The LT package includes the same Midnight Edition extras without all the Z71 off-road accessories.

Teen Driver Standard on Both SUVs

If you have a new licensee in your family, you’ll be pleased to know that Chevy has now added its Teen Driver package as standard equipment in both the 2017 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe. Designed to help teens focus on the task at hand and not become distracted, Teen Driver can let parents see how fast the vehicle went, how far it went and how many times any safety features were activated during the drive. It also won’t turn the radio on until all seat belts are fastened.

Tahoe, Suburban Sales on Rise

As the two most popular full-size SUVs in America, the Tahoe and Suburban continue to rock sales during this calendar year. The Tahoe, which offers three-row seating and plenty of towing capability, shows sales 15 percent of last year’s total. The larger Suburban, the perfect vehicle for big families, shows a 30 percent increase. See why America loves these two vehicles when you head to Freeway Chevrolet for a test drive.
